About Us
MLS Learning, Inc. was established in the Fall of 2002 by Iris Fisher, a community organizer with a vision for improving the educational development of local children and adults. Since its inception, MLS Learning has directly impacted the academic attainment and literacy of thousands students in the Prince George’s County, Maryland area. We have classes from Pre-K through 12th grade and our program continues to grow rapidly with new and returning students each year!
MLS Learning provides services to areas where there are Title I schools and other schools in need of improvement in the local area. Our program model is designed to bring education to the community through community learning centers, which provide academic enrichment and supplementary services. The overarching goal of MLS Learning is to increase educational development by aligning the curriculum with Maryland State standards and by using weekly, monthly, and quarterly benchmarks to measure achievement.
We also offer a summer chess component to complement our tutorial program (Read this article on our chess program.). In addition, we provide opportunities for field trips to museums, theaters, Broadway plays, and amusement parks, in order to further enhance the community and cultural awareness of our participants.
